# Add a source

> Upload your copy or ask your agent to find an authorized downloadable edition.

Start with a file you can provide, or select a book and ask your agent to find an authorized downloadable copy. Do not bypass DRM or source access restrictions.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose your source">Open [your library](https://answerwithbooks.com/profile/) to upload, or provide a file to your agent. Common supported formats include PDF, EPUB, DOCX, Markdown, HTML, RTF, and plain text. Scanned pages may need OCR. Specialized and DRM-free Kindle formats can use the hosted native extraction route.</Step>
  <Step title="Choose how to generate">Use [your own agent](/guide/own-agent), or choose [hosted processing](/guide/hosted-processing). Your agent should present these choices and wait for your selection.</Step>
  <Step title="Get your book and skill">Review the generated summary, source findings, and skill. Download or install the skill when you want to reuse it.</Step>
</Steps>

## More than one file

The CLI accepts files, folders, and quoted globs, with up to ten supported files per upload. Files become separate books by default. Ask explicitly for a combined collection when that is what you want; combining does not imply that the sources agree.

## Reuse and revisions

An identical saved source may reuse your existing result. A matching public digest is different from a full-source conversion of your copy. A changed source or a new revision is processed separately. Your private source is not published to the public shelf by reusing a result.
